Cinema 4D support is back!

It’s back!

It took us more time than expected, but we are excited to announce that we are bringing back support for Cinema 4D file format and adding V-Ray 6 and Corona Renderer 9 as supported rendering engines for this format. This move is part of our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality 3d models and materials to 3d artists, designers, and architects around the world.

With the support for Cinema 4D, users of the software can now easily import 3d models from our vast library of furniture, lighting, and decor items. Starting today, all new products will come out of the box with the latest versions of the rendering engines, and for all others, you will be able to request a file format conversion that’s completely free of charge.

Under the hood

Cinema 4D has always been the second most popular file format after 3ds Max, which is our default for creating the products. As such, our goal is to provide quality that matches the original. That’s where the most effort went in the development process.

The focus and the tricky part (as always) were the materials and their translation between different render engines. Picking the proper levels of Metalness, Sheen, Coat, etc., took time and attempts. A big chunk of time also went to figuring out how to translate V-Ray shaders and properties that are not present in Corona Renderer and Cinema 4D native renderers like VrayColorCorrection, VrayDisplacementMod, 3dsMax Falloff shader, Mix shader, and VrayBlendMaterial.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of images renderings created with 3ds Max + V-Ray and Cinema 4D + V-Ray:

Care to try?

Haven’t previously used any of our Cinema 4D models? Wonder how good the conversions are? Well, we have prepared a few models (including a freebie) that can be downloaded right now:

The future

In conclusion, we are thrilled to bring back support for Cinema 4D file format and add V-Ray 6 and Corona Renderer 9 as supported rendering engines. This move reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and providing them with the tools they need to create high-quality 3d visualizations.

We have plans for more improvements and expanding the range of supported formats. To be in the loop, follow us on:
